Sleep is essential to preserve and regenerate energy. Sleep does not only rest the body, but the mind as well. Dreams help to sort out the happenings during the day, while deep sleep gives the brain completely rest.

Poor sleep is common about people that are burned out. This can help:

  • look for any underlying mental reasons for the poor sleep. Focus on solving any problems during daytime – so they do not keep you awake during the night. Seek professional help if necessary
  • get a lot of natural light and exercise during daytime. Avoid tiring or exhausting physical activities the last three hours before you go to sleep
  • do not consume fluids or foods that contain caffeine after 5 pm, and do not drink alcohol or eat large meals in the evening
  • relax before bedtime with for instance calming music or meditation/relaxation
  • go to bed and get out of bed at fixed times
  • keep the bedroom dark, airy and cool
  • get a bed that is comfortable and right for you
